Battery Management System (BMS) in car has identified that high voltage battery pyrotechnic fuse is closer to end of its lifespan and need to replace at earliest convince.
1.1 How long life has pyro fuse?
Pyro Fuse has lifespan around 8 years. If car is around 7/8 years old. There are chances to get alert "Battery Fuse requires replacement soon", "BMS_u031_ReplaceSmartFuseSoon", BMS_u032".
1.2 Why car need Pyro Fuse in Tesla Models?
It prevents short circuit or fire in the event of car crash, accident etc.
2. Action to Do
- It need to replace Pyro Fuse.
- Fuse must be replaced with new self-powered hybrid pyro fuse.

4.1 Labor Cost
4.1.1 Car with Battery 2.0
It will not take long to replace pyro fuse for car with battery 2.0. Fuse is located below the High Voltage Battery. It will take around 0,54 hrs to replace & will cost labor around 115-150. Labor cost could vary depend on type of workshop, location etc.
4.1.2 Car with Battery 1.0.
It will take longer to replace fuse for car with battery 1.0. Fuse is located on top of the high voltage battery. It need to drop the whole battery pack to replace the Fuse. It takes a long time and it is expensive. Please contact us if you are looking for workshop.

7. Fuse Cover Upgrade
Tesla original fuse cover corrode with time. After corrosion, it could enter water inside pack and will create internal isolation. In some case, it could destroy battery and might need to replace new high voltage battery pack, which could cost until 17,000 thousands of dollars/euro. It is highly recommend to upgrade fuse cover as a preventative maintenance to avoid huge repair cost, which could cost from 3,500 to 17,000 thousands.

8 How to Replace Tesla Pyro Fuse
Warning: It is recommend to replace Pyro Fuse from Expert/Specialist, who have been trained to work on high voltage car. It could be dangerous.
Replacement process for Model 3 & Y is almost similar except few difference (Seat removal process). This process can vary depend on which model do you have and which battery version 1 or 2.

8.1 Steps to replace Pyro Fuse
Following steps are only for information purpose. Please use official Service Manual.- Disconnect 12V battery (negative terminal first)
- Disconnect first responder loop
- Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Check absence of high voltage
- Use fully insulated tool to replace pyro fuse
- Reconnect first responder loop
- Reconnect Low Voltage Battery
- Reconfigure the Car
- Car need to reconfigured depending on which Micro Controller Unit (MCU) is equipped in car.
