Tesla "Battery Health Test" Guide

1. Introduction

If you would like to know whether your car high voltage battery is fully functional or has already some percentage of degradation. It is possible to check via Tesla Service Mode, Aftermarket Battery Health Tool, App etc.

1.1 Why do you need do it?

  • If you would like know/check the degradation of your car high voltage battery.
  • If you feel like that you are not getting the range the way it should give.
  • You would like to buy/sell electric car from someone and would like to know the range/capacity of the battery.

1.2 Benefits of doing it

This test give the report about current condition of battery.

2. How to do Battery Health Test via Service Mode

It could be estimated range with the help battery health test via Service Mode.

Touchscreen Service Mode > Battery > High Voltage > HV System > Health Test

Your car might show that battery health 100%. It might not be true, if you have already have drove a car some thousand of kilometers. After running health test, it will update current battery condition.

Test may take up to 24 hours.

3. How to do with Aftermarket Kit/Box

It is possible to with some independent workshop, DIY. At the end of test, you will battery health test report with score. This report could be useful, in case if you are planning/buying a car to show/prove the condition of high voltage battery.

4. How to do Battery Health Test with App

There are some apps in market (Tessi etc.) with the help of App. You could able to check battery degradation.
