1.1 How to check Leakage
- Easiest way to check with Speed Sensor (Rotor encoder sensor).
- Visually inspect for signs of condensation, moisture and/or corrosion
1.2 Why its important to fix if there is any leakage
- to avoid more damage
- to avoid expensive repair in the future
1.3 What could happen if not fixed?
- It could damage whole drive unit and need to repair whole drive unit which could cost around 7,600 (Cost could vary depend on Model).
- It could seize motor and stop working.
- It could rust the rotor
- It could destroy the electronics in the inverter.
2. How to Fix
2.1 Coolant Delete
If you are having Model S or X. You might need to perform Coolant Delete.
Which cars are affected for Coolant Delete?
- Tesla Model S 2012-2014
- Tesla Model S and X 2015-2020, Performance versions only, rear drive motor only
- Tesla Cars with Large Drive Unit
