2.1 Labor Cost

2.1.1 Car with Battery 2.0

It will not take long to replace fuse for car with battery 2.0. Fuse is located below the High Voltage Battery. It will take around 0,54 hrs to replace & will cost labor around 115-150. Labor cost could vary depend on type of workshop, location etc.

2.1.2 Car with Battery 1.0.

It will take longer to replace fuse for car with battery 1.0. Fuse is located on top of the high voltage battery. It need to drop the whole battery pack to replace the Fuse. It takes a long time and it is expensive. Please contact us if you are looking for workshop.

5. Fuse Cover Upgrade

Tesla original fuse cover corrode with time. After corrosion, it could enter water inside pack and will create internal isolation. In worst case, it could need to replace new battery pack, which could cost thousands of dollars/euro. We recommend to upgrade fuse cover as a preventative maintenance to avoid huge repair cost.

6. How to Replace Tesla Pyro Fuse

Warning: It is recommend to replace Battery Fuse from Expert/Specialist, who have been trained to work on high voltage car. It could be dangerous. 

Replacement process for Model 3 & Y is almost similar except few difference (Seat removal process). This process can vary depend on which model do you have and which battery version 1 or 2.

6.1 Steps to replace Pyro Fuse

Following steps are only for information purpose. Please use official Service Manual

  • Disconnect 12V battery (negative terminal first)
  • Disconnect first responder loop
  • Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Check absence of high voltage
  • Use fully insulated tool to replace pyro fuse
  • Reconnect first responder loop
  • Reconnect Low Voltage Battery
  • Reconfigure the Car 
    • Car need to reconfigured depending on which Micro Controller Unit (MCU) is equipped in car.
  • Coolant Air Purge
